We're excited to kick off the new year with a new series, #2020Vision—asking customers from the worlds of entertainment, food, music, activism, and literature for predictions about the future of their fields, in addition to insight into how they're going to make 2020 the best year yet.
Philanthropist, speaker, athlete, and model Wesley Hamilton shares how he plans to continue to spread his message of self-love, positivity and resilience to new audiences in 2020.
Squarespace: Can you describe what a difference 2019 was compared to past years?
Wesley Hamilton: Every year is a new year to grow and for me 2019 was just that. I went from this ordinary guy to an inspiration to people all over the world. 2019 gave me light on my vision and more faith to take risks.
SQSP: How has your story been received by others? Can you describe some of the outreach and reactions you’ve received?
WH: People from all over the world reach out to tell me how much I’ve inspired them. No matter where I’m at there’s someone coming up to me just to shake my hand and tell me how my story has touched their soul, it’s truly an amazing feeling. Becoming completely vulnerable for the world to see has given people the ability to come at me about anything and I’m here for it!!
SQSP: How are you going to keep the momentum up from last year into this new year?
WH: By staying on the path that got me where I am today, it’s really that simple. I don’t focus much on the accomplishments as much as I acknowledge the grind that got me to it. So, if I stay on that grind and elevate it by taking risk and never giving up there’s no way the momentum won’t grow as well. It’s time to inspire the world and I’m just getting started.
SQSP: Where do you see yourself in 2020?
WH: Traveling all over the world spreading my message of self-love, positivity and resilience to help heal communities everywhere. I also see myself creating things that will forever change the infrastructure in the communities where I come from. Oh and “Ellen,” yes, I would love to be in front of her audience in 2020.
