Easter Egg Dye = Toxic Terror?

Submitted by Zebra Mussel on April 5, 2007 - 9:36pm.

Easter rolls around and you start mixing up heavy duty reactive synthetic dyes using household chemistry like viniger.   Safe enough for Paas yet strong enough to stain my counter.   Where's a toxicologist when you need one?

My next batch will be dyed using coffee, berrys, etc.

Gloves on!    Conforms to ASTM D-4236

Sources of natural dyes

interesting posting - Evelyn and I are converting some old Hough Bakery recipes to all natural and organic and I was thinking about how to make natural sugar sprinkles colorful... here is one source I found

I'd love to see more insight on this - any local sources of these natural food colors.
