NEO ZoneLet Them Eat Fresh, Local, Organic Raspberries and Blackberries They Picked In Their Neighborhood For FreeSubmitted by Norm Roulet on July 8, 2008 - 12:08pm.
2008/07/08 - 6:00pm 2008/07/08 - 7:00pm
When our neighbor Dr. Pat Blochowiak told us to stop by her garden and pick some raspberries, blackberries and snow peas, I didn't realize the depths of her bounty... or how great blackberries may be. As my kids picked through nature, they chomped down probably $50 worth of the best food in town, when you may find food so good. As I looked at the bowls of berries collected in short time, I felt blessed by my community and nature. Over a fresh berries and whipped organic cream desert, our family celebrated Summer and life in the best way. All that is the certain promise of East Cleveland, with community farming. Help plan that reality with Maurice Small and others as we meet again, today, for what has become an every-other-Tuesday City Fresh I GRO EC brainstorming session, in East Cleveland. This week, we'll meet at the Hough/Star Bakeries complex, and also visit Brown's Market, which we plan to convert into a pilot City Fresh Market. Awhile back, Roldo mentioned that the newspaper still has relevance. Today, this article proves it.

corridors and boulevards could stop in their tracksSubmitted by Susan Miller on April 19, 2008 - 9:44am.
I would not be alarmed. We may continue to get a break on the pie in the sky dreams of the "quick and dirty delivery system - Opportunity Corridor" for University Circle, Inc. (UCI) and Cleveland Clinic as well as the "curbcuts for developer's - West Shoreway" due to this news: ( categories: Supply Chain & Logistics | Education | Environment | NEO Signature Bridge | Sustainable Transportation | NEO Zone )

Cycling and Climate Change DebateSubmitted by Kevin Cronin on April 9, 2007 - 1:12pm.
I went to a very good talk about climate change and the "Inconvenient Truth" at the Natural History Museum last week. The dialogue was led by local businessman/ environmentalist Jeff Friedman. It occurs to me that cycling can be a stronger part of climate change discussion. Federal Transportation Cuts Looming - Contact Governor to Protect Bike and Pedestrian ProjectsSubmitted by Kevin Cronin on March 29, 2007 - 12:45am.
I need to raise an important point of federal budget minutia and ask that you email the Governor to protect riding and pedestrian infrastructure in NE Ohio. The President wants to save some money so he has rescinded (or canceled) spending for transportation enhancement programs. Because federal transportation money was already distributed to the states years ago, he can't cancel it directly, so he tells the Governors to decide where to cut. Transportation Enhancement money is important to NE Ohio. In fact, of all states receiving transportation enhancement money, Ohio trails only California, Texas and Florida. But if Ohio receives a lot of money, we are also being asked to generate a lot of the rescission money – nearly $139 million. TOD update from Richard McDougald Enty, Planning Team Leader, Programming & Planning Department, GCRTASubmitted by Norm Roulet on March 28, 2007 - 6:02pm.
I received an informative email this afternoon from Richard McDougald Enty, Planning Team Leader, Programming & Planning Department, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, about some of their Transit Oriented Development initiatives and vision. It is very exciting to see this as an active subject for discussion and planning here. I am a strong supporter of Transit Oriented Development and consider it the core foundation on which we should rebuild the City of Cleveland and surrounding suburbs. Here is the vision from RTA: ( categories: Akron | Art | Canton | Case | Child Development | Cleveland | Cleveland Foundation | Dear Peter | East Cleveland | Education | Film | Glenville | Healthcare | Industry | Information Technology | Internationalization | Lakewood | Making Change | NEO Communities | Neo Knows | Ohio City | REALNEO | Shaker Heights | Slavic Village | Social Consciousness | Sustainable Development | Workforce Devlopment | Alternative Energy | Green Development | Arts and Culture | Arts Culture | Biofuel | CIA | Civic Innovation Lab | Cleveland Museum of Art | Community | Dance | Economy | Education | Environment | Film Production | Fuel Cell | Fund For Our Econ Future | Health | Historic Preservation | May Show | Music | NEO Signature Bridge | REI | Solar Power | Sustainable Transportation | Technology | Whiskey Island | WiFi | Wind Power | NEO Knows | NEO Zone )
